1 Direction is proud to have a successful track record of serving California, Atlanta, GA & Baltimore, MD having over 15 years experience in the education field. Year long programs to assist students and supports schools/districts in the areas of academics, social & emotional learning, behavioral, athletics, attendance and more. 1D aims to work with all students, providing an opportunity to set goals that will lead to productive and fulfilling lives.

Our Parent Engagement Programs foster meaningful parent participation by bringing parents from all walks of life together to support a shared goal: helping their children and schools flourish. This gives students, parents, and educators an opportunity to engage and learn through seminars, events and much, much more.

Our Mission

Roderick Figgs

Roderick Figgs born and raised in Oakland, CA is the Associate Director of Cal-SOAP for Pre-College Programs at California State University, San Bernardino. Driven by a desire to help youth succeed, Roderick spent several years working in various pre-college outreach programs where he delivered college readiness opportunities to thousands of students in Riverside, San Bernardino and Los Angeles counties. Roderick, an alumnus and former employee of UC Riverside, holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a master’s degree in Higher Education. Having over 16 years of experience with educational programs, Roderick continues to foster a strong passion for developing and implementing programs to provide opportunity, increase matriculation rates, and improve access to higher education for young people in our community. He never limits his work to inside the classroom, as he states “students spend a lot of time out of the classroom, so in order to truly reach them, we need to be out there as well”
